It is no secret that listening to music makes you work harder. But what are the reasons why it works? There are 3 reasons why you should listen to your iPod while doing your (hopefully usual) exercises.

You focus on your tempo music instead of the hot bod across the room. You must have encountered this before - someone or something distracted your attention away from your workout. It can be some eye-candies or some noisy gym animal. Listening to tempo music creates a greater positive distraction, as stated in the International Herald Tribune, than the visual ones. This is because you can always look at the other direction, but you can never shut off your ears to the music you are listening to. This alone creates the rhythm needed for you to finish the exercise.

Audio instructions are able to cox you to work harder. Whether you are on the treadmill or the rowing machine, following audio instructions are better than just looking at the funky looking instruction display on the workout machine. iTrain provides valuable audio instructions and tempo music that suits just about all forms of workouts. The best part is that it is fully customizable to your fitness level and your training needs.

You are here to exercise, not socialize. You know the greatest cause of a bad workout in the gym is to socialize. It takes valuable time off your training and also disrupts the momentum. A 1 minute breather can become a 5 minutes conversation easily. Listening to your iPod helps to stop you from chatting with a friend. Just a wave and a smile and leave the chat till the end of your workout.

You must be thinking, “come on! You put this up in a weight loss website?”

Well yes? What’s wrong with it? You will be surprised that sometimes you are a victim of addiction to exercise. It’s an inherent natural of all human to want to move around.

5 signs that you are actually addicted to exercise, without you actually knowing it:

You feel like stretching. Stretching is actually a precursor to the want to exercise. But most people fall short of doing the full course as they are accustomed to the quickie. Remedy: Remember the pep talk techniques from a previous post? For at least 5 sessions, use cue words like ‘run!’ or ’swim!’ when you consciously do a simple stretch or a stretch regime. Here comes the hard part, do what you have told yourself to do in the cue words. Trust me that this works. After a few sessions you will feel awkward not pleasing your inner desire.

You like your Wii Sports. So, playing Wii sports games make you feel like a pro. Well, at least to the paper thin audiences. Why not try the new thing? I am sure if you can do so well in the bowling or golf game, you can excel in the real thing. C’mon, trust the game’s accuracy! Be a real amateur : Playing those virtual games already makes you technically superior than a greenhorn. Now you just need to be physically superior. Pick up a sport that you enjoyed in games. See if the sport is taught in your area. If not, suggest to meet up those in the game forum near you to organise a casual weekend sports outing.

You are waiting with bated breathe for the release of Wii Fit. Finally, something fun for exercise! Well, at least after May this year. I have seen the Wii Fit preview. It really blows my mine away! This sacred game should be in every household who cares enough on leading a healthy lifestyle. It’s what we advocates here: Losing weight, the fun way. Don’t just wait: Instead of waiting for Wii Fit to hit the shelves, you can anticipate by signing up for a yoga or step aerobics class at your nearby fitness centre. The routines you learned in these classes will make you enjoy the game further. Sign up tomorrow and you will be just in time for the game’s release.

You thought watching the sports news is a sport. Watching your favourite team winning a competition may make you feel like you are part of them. Want to be part of them? Doing the actual thing makes you feel even more attached to your winning team. At the same time, you are able to understand the game better with all the whys and hows easily answer for themselves.

You seriously feel that lack of exercise makes you lethargic. So got that FEELING. Don’t need to procrastinate. Just do it! It’s true, lack of exercise really can cause lethargy. Easier said than done, but that’s the whole point: To be frank to you, I hasn’t been exercising for the past one week. But it is due to a big toe injury that really makes even walking a chore. But I still tried to run through the pain last night. I tell you, it’s the best decision I have taken for the past 2 weeks. It really spurred me on to want to run and swim more. I felt so strong after the run not because it’s easily done, but because I am so proud I made the right decision and threw away the procrastination. Easier said than done, but that’s the whole point.

That is right. I am going to revamp the focus of this website. It’s not some mid-life crisis that I am having. It’s just that I strongly feel that I should be doing what I preach, and dieting and some boot camp regime isn’t what I had believed in.

I am a 1.82m tall guy weighing 78 kg. I would say I am decently healthy, constantly participating in some sporting events as well as having a liking for my greens. I wouldn’t say I hasn’t had any form of regime, but it’s more of doing things that interests me that kept me going.

I give up on giving ‘dieting’ or ‘regimes’ advices, as I think these only shorten your leisure time and does nothing to directly liven up your spirit. I promise to present you with genuine, proven ways to loss weight with you thinking, ‘I never thought that can be counted?’.

Finally, all the best to a health, fun and lean life!

I recently wrote an article on Colour Therapy for More Effective Weight Loss. However, I wasn’t really convinced about the efficacy about this technique and I only stumbled upon it recently so I am still looking for more information on it.

The purpose of the previous post is to create awareness of this therapeutic treatment. Colours may affect a person’s appetite, this one probably some of you would know. However, there is one point that I do not really understand is the fact that ’solarised’ ( you can check out my previous post to find the meaning for this) water can be used for up to a week after the water solarisation treatment. This point itself doesn’t immediately align with the mass audience, especially those of you whom have been through a certain depth of education.

So now I want those of you folks out here whom had tried this treatment, to share your view about the reliability of this method and at the same time bring us more indepth about how colour therapy works.

You must have heard that colours can change the mood of a person. Like for example, yellow can give you warmth and red can evoke a strong emotional feeling.

But have you heard that the usage of the right colour can actually aid in more effective weight loss? This is called colour therapy and it is a form of alternative healing. It is also called chromotherapy or colorology. A Critical Analysis of Chromotherapy and It’s Scientific Evolution, an journal in Oxford Journals, said that a trained colour therapist is able to use light and colour to balance what has been lack off mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically.

The colour Blue is usually used for this function. Blue brings about the feeling of calm and serenity. Blue is said to reduce your appetite. This is the reason why people advocate eating your food off blue utensils.

Solarised water is water that has light being filtered off so only a specific light colour is absorbed by the water. Drinking this form of water is said to help in reducing stress and improve weight loss as well. ehow.com has information on How to Solarised Water for Stress Relieve. This can also be used for weight loss as well.

This is partly the reason I have changed The Summer Life theme colour to a Blue Based colour ( I am still experimenting with different shades of blue to see what combinations are best).

More indepth articles will be up on this interesting therapy. Some of you maybe abit skeptical of this alternative medicine, but making the effort is half the battle won. People had long debated on the fact that the world is round to no avail, until improvement in technology provided a solid evidence.

Follow the steps below for just 1 minute every day and you will not fall your regime ever again.

1. Acknowledge the fact that you are one leg in your own grave

If not even death can do you apart from your flabby waist, nothing could. The only reason why people don’t take health statistics seriously is because they think they wouldn’t be the one getting it.

You are so wrong. You ARE the next statistic IF you don’t do something about it NOW.

2. Admit that it’s not the genes, it’s you.

Alot of people think their weight got something to do with their genes. Get over it. You are at fault. When people told me I had a double chin after 8 mths of stagnant lifestyle, I tell myself,” Ok I am wrong, Now what should I do”

3. Practice telling mental cues to yourself.

The reason why alot of us went into eating autopilot is because 1. sugar turns you on 2. you are not guiding your subconscious.

People in the food industry knows how to turn your subconscious eating behaviour on by adding all sorts of flavour enhancer that tickles your taste bud and tickles your brain at the same time.

For the star, have a friend whom knows you are having a weight loss regime. Ask him/her to shout you a word like, “Don’t!” or “No!‘ or “Bad!” everything time you wanted to put a doughnut or ice-cream in your mouth. Make sure you use only one word throughout your regime.

After you have practiced this for a while, try shouting this word mentally to yourself everything you wanted to eat the forbidden stuffs. This will be your mental cue word

If it fails, go back to ask your friend for help again.

4. Stick a goal sentence on your bathroom mirror

Any sentence will do, but it must be achieveable.

By writing down your goal physically, you already already triggered both your articulative and reasoning sides of your brain to make meaning of your goal.

Goal sentences you can use can be as candid as,”Be a man! Do the Right Thing!” or as focused as,”More veggies, less beer”

Now you have 4 easy to follow pep talk that you can use every day throughout your regime. At anything if you feel that it doesn’t work for you, remember,

Anything can work for you, unless you spend all your time comtemplating on it’s usefulness.

All the Best!

Have you ever taken up a challenge with someone to show that you are able to lose weight, but failed miserably in the end?

Does losing weight meant more like a task to you?

If you happened to answer yes to either of the question, most probably losing weight isn’t as important to you than how you thought it would.

You see, people always have the wrong mindset even if their intention to lose weight is good. Some people wants to look fabulous, some just want to show that they could. But good intention isn’t the key to successful weight loss.

The key to successful weight loss is by admitting that it is a serious problem in your life, and that it may hinder your ability to lead a normal or better life ever again.

Some people think that the first step to lose weight, is to surfing the net and find some great workout and diet plan to follow.

To tell you the truth, those are the least important part of success weight loss.

In order to begin your regime at the right note, first you have to understand that weight problem is a very serious problem. And you have to tell yourself that you have the ability to correct this problem.

I don’t care if you are a CEO of some big firm, or a ice-cream parlour girl. In both cases, the situation is equally problematic.

You must be saying :”Yeah, right. How can some one as high achieving as a CEO can have any grave problems?”

I tell you, problem is a state of mind.

If you are able to bring yourself to understand that losing weight is The problem, everything will come naturally.

Maybe you don’t ever need to visit another weight loss site ever again.

One cannot deny the fact that water is the basis of Life. Without water, most bodily functions cannot carry on; food cannot be converted to energy, your body cannot carry out repair functions.

But when you want to link fat loss by drinking enough water, it sounded quite bizarre. As quoted:

“If the kidneys are water-deprived, the liver has a double duty assignment. It has to do the work of the kidneys along with its own work. This double time assignment only serves to lower the actual productivity of the liver. It then can’t metabolize fat as quickly as it could when the kidneys do their job with efficiency.

If you allow this to happen, not only are you being unfair to your liver, but you’re also setting yourself up to store fat because you’ve made the liver less efficient at turning stored body fat into energy….” - Raphael Calzadilla from ediet

It is true that water is needed for the proper functioning of the kidney, and liver do indeed converts fats into energy.

But I would like to say that liver directly uses water to break down toxin, flush out toxin and also convert fat into energy, if you want to put it that way.

The fact that toxin, and broken down toxin, get stored in adipose tissue because of the lack of water might be the main reason for the weight gain.

When there is a lack of water, the body’s homeostasis got disrupted and this results in the build up of toxins in the body.

The rule of thumb: Don’t be a camel and drink one gallon at one go, just drink (water) frequently and amply.

Have you ever wondered why can’t you have the body of a lean supermodel?

You must be thinking “that model can’t be so disciplined to follow a diet eating all those unforgiving food”.

The truth is that this particular model may not be so disciplined as much as eating the food she likes to eat, and having a diet does not mean succumbing yourself to eating those ‘unforgiving’ food.

First of all, you have to see what is wrong with your eating habit and more importantly, what is your favourite food. If you are those who think that having a diet means eating one meal a day and that particular meal happens to be some carrot and celery, I would like to tell you that you are not a horse living on a barren land.

On the other hand, if a weight loss diet means eating the some wild Alaskan salmon fillet as protein every meal, you will get so sick of it that you want your ribs back.

For a list of proven weight loss food please follow the link at the resource box

Proven food is food that your brain immediate registered as healthy, without a second guess. It is no coincident that your brain straight away contemplated at the first instance when you are about to flush another pretzel down your throat with a can of diet coke.

You must have heard recently that the unconscious mind might be having the upper hand in critical decision making. Your instinct wouldn’t stop you from eating the broccoli; your food preference might.

Knowing what the proven foods are and planning your diet eating those foods can only for the short term. In order to have a long term positive effect on your body, you have to condition your brain to register these foods as your preferred nutrition staples.

Proven foods are those you find on the field, in the wild and in the field. It is as easy as that. This goes to say that your sugar-laden donut from your local confectionery shop.

So the next time if you are confused on your latest diet plan and what to eat, just go take a walk to your good old food market – supermarkets will just make you more confused.
